Pain Management

Frequent or recurring pain can be very harmful and affect your job, home life and personal well-being. Many of these pain sources such as headaches, back pain, muscle strains and joint pain can be successfully treated with regular sessions of massage therapy.

Massage helps to decrease pain and inflammation and can reduce the need for over the counter medicines and addictive medications.

The clinical use of soft tissue manipulation through NMT, trigger point work, and myofascial release to reduce pain and stress during healing process and in some cases help the process to be more expedient. When a painful injury or pathology is resistant to treatment and persists, when pain persists after the injury or pathology has healed, and when medical science cannot identify the cause of pain, regular sessions of NMT can sometimes reduce the need for drugs and improve quality of life.

Neuromuscular Therapy

Neuromuscular therapy (NMT) is a form of soft tissue manual therapy. It is distinguished from other types of massage in that a quasi-static pressure is applied to the skin with the aim of stimulating specific areas of skeletal muscle. Often these areas of muscle are myofascial trigger points. NMT is a comprehensive program of soft tissue manipulation techniques that balance the central nervous system (brain, spinal column and nerves) with the structure and form of the musculoskeletal system. NMT is based on neurological laws that explain how the central nervous system maintains homeostatic balance.

Sports Massage Specialist

Massage Rx provides a wide range of care for athletes and active individuals who are passionate about their health and sports performance. Whatever your level of performance we can tailor a session especially for your body and your sports needs. This includes pre-event massage, post-event massage as well as regular maintenance sessions to keep your body in tune.

Sports massage specialists usually work on specific areas of the body depending on which sport and what is indicated whether it's for pre or post event or maintenance work. We have experience with golf, baseball, runners, cyclists, football, hockey, tennis, and cross fitters.

Pre-event sessions are geared for better range of motion, warm up stretching, and increased circulation. Post-event sessions are geared to lactic acid reduction, decrease DOMS, and keeping the muscles and tendons from tightening. Maintenance sessions are usually done with regular frequency during peak training season to maintain health, and peak performance for training, practice, and events.

We also work with many CrossFit members and can perform pre and post CrossFit Workout of the Day (WOD) and pre and post events for athletes.
